The Health and Safety unit is responsible for providing organisational wide Health & Safety direction, structures, polices that support the University community to develop and achieve a work environment in which safety is a core value and risk management practices are embedded in all of its processes.
The unit is committed to leading, facilitating, guiding and encouraging management, employees and students to strive to achieve a work environment that minimises risks and injury by
- Setting the Universities OHS Management direction.
- Establishing Key Performance Indicators for the University.
- Reviewing the Universities Occupational Health and Safety Management System
- Measuring the Universities OH&S performance.
- Assisting managers and supervisors to manage health & safety, and injury management as an part of their day to day operational practices;
- Developing and reviewing OH&S policy, procedures, guidelines and tools;
- Delivering OH&S training programs for managers, supervisors and employees;
- Coordinating durable return to work for injured employees;
