HR Recruites

In June, Workplace Relations & Services welcomed three new staff members.

Philip Dartnell - Philip has previously worked in the Student Enquiry Service for the past three years and also has had payroll experience with the NSW State Electoral Commission. He was an Olympic volunteer in Stadium Australia in 2000 - "a fantastic experience, one I will never forget". He studied at Macquarie University 1996-2000 Bachelor of Science Dip Ed majoring in Human And Physical Geography. He enjoys working at Macquarie University because of the excellent staff, students and one of the greenest campuses in Sydney. He is really enjoying working in WR&S with a variety of tasks relating to leave, payroll and recruitment. He loves travelling, bike riding, and photography (especially landscapes), and admits he is prone to taking way too many photos!

Philip is working in Sue Verdich's team and can be contacted on extension 9770.

Matthew Chisholm - Matthew comes from a Local Government background. Having worked for three different organisations, he has learnt and understands how the spheres of Government work within Australia; how people benefit from Local Government and the services offered and used by people. He has worked within a customer service environment, technical records and administration positions. He has completed a Diploma of Human Resources last year (2003) and is one-third through a Diploma of Management. Working at the University, he finds people nice and friendly and finds good on the job training. He has always wanted to work within a HR environment. Having previously worked within teams and in a face-to-face role, he enjoys meeting and dealing with people. He likes many facets of HR, e.g. OH&S, EEO, Training & Development, Recruitment, Payroll, Super, to name a few. His hobbies and interests are: Digital Photography, Aviation, Flight Simulation Computer Programs, Cricket, Rugby League ("GO THE DRAGONS!!!!!!") and F1 Motor Racing.

Matthew is working in Sue Verdich's team and can be contacted on extension 9726.

Alusaine Kamara - Alusaine has seven years working experience in Personnel/HR management. He holds a Bachelor of HR/IR, and a Bachelor of Business Administration - Operations Management from University of Western Sydney, and an Advanced Diploma in HR Management from Sydney TAFE. Prior to working with Macquarie University, he worked for Mosman Council as HR Admin where he performed HR activities/functions in the organisation. He also worked with Disability Services as an HR Officer, responsible for training and development in the organisation. Alusaine chose HR as a career, because he believes HR should be the primary driver of organisational strategy and its operations. Working with Macquarie University is an opportunity for challenges ahead in his chosen career. The organisation encourages employees to develop their skills and knowledge through continuous learning. Alusaine looks forward to staying with Macquarie University, because of the opportunities and challenges in his position, and the continuous learning approach the organisation has adopted for its employees. This approach or concept enhances individual skills, knowledge, attitude and improves the workplace. His likes reading HR material, playing casual soccer and dancing.

Alusaine is working in Helen Siluk's team and can be contacted on extension 9771.
