National Aboriginal & Islander Day Observance Committee
(NAIDOC Week 7-14 July 2002)
Theme: "Recognition, Rights and Reform"

NAIDOC Week 2002 is to be celebrated from July 7 -14 2002, with Friday 12 July 2002 proclaimed as National Aboriginal and Islander Day. This year's celebrations will commemorate the 10th anniversary of the historic Mabo High Court decision and has the theme "Recognition, Rights and Reform".

University supervisors are encouraged to support and release Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander staff to participate in NAIDOC celebrations, as set out in 11.10.03 of the Enterprise Agreement.

NAIDOC Week celebrations continue to give Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples the opportunity to celebrate their culture and heritage with the wider Australian community.

In the spirit of Reconciliation all University supervisors are encouraged to support non -Aboriginal and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander staff to actively participate and engage in NAIDOC Week events.
